Bachantki / Bacchae

The combination of drama and opera, in this case, stems from the belief that the world of Dionysus is best described by the music. And the operatic music of the Austrian composer Egon Wellesz combines seriousness, horror and delight by giving away the entire ambiguity of Dionysos feast. In this way, he builds the distant and mysterious world of ‚bacchant’ as a harbinger of human tragedy.
